Military, STAY CLEAR!!!

“Military, STAY CLEAR! Paradise Lake is a very shady business. Signing their lease is like shaking hands with the Devil and if you were to speak to any lawyer in the area concerning the business of Paradise Lake they would likely tell you the same. You can clearly see in the below review that the owner is vindictive and would be more than willing to do whatever necessary in order to get every ounce of your money.
Paradise Lake even made the news due to their antics. They are indeed renting out homes that do not legally belong to them using a loophole in the law. You, the renter, will receive letters from banks and lawyers about how the home is being Foreclosed. You will also receive phone calls should you not heed their warnings. Paradise Lake will do nothing more than take down your information and tell you to dismiss the warnings---that it's none of your concern. It is your concern.
During my time at Paradise Lake I was told that my heater could not be fixed by them, that the water damage caused by the dishwasher was my issue and that my refrigerator that was also leaking would just have to wait. Furthermore, the floor was rotting out beneath the carpet. It took them six weeks to come to the house to fix the floor. It was a disgusting mess of mold and decay. Not exactly healthy living. Prior to all this my family had to deal with freezing cold water as the heater was broken. I was told that I would have to call a maintenance man at my own expense should I want hot water. Pretty sure it's the landlords responsibility.
All this took place during my husband's deployment. As a woman living alone, I was lost and confused as to what I should do. When I sought out help from Paradise Lake, my questions were met with venom. The office workers were always less than graceful and they never wore a smile on their faces. Never. Not even when I was handing over the months rent. They were witches.
I never once met the man that owned the property. I never shook his hand, never met his stare with a stare of my own. He hid himself away from us. When we asked to meet with him after we moved out we were constantly told that he was away. We moved out immediately after our lease was up. It wasn't until several months later that we received a letter saying that we owed Paradise Lake in damages. What damages? Remember the leak from the dishwasher and refrigerator? Recall the mold from the rotting floor? We were to pay them for it all. How much were they wanting? Over two grand---not including the 900 dollars we had given them before moving in. Outrageous.
Long story short: Paradise Lake needs to consider changing it's name. It is not paradise---it is not home. Do yourself a favor if you're military...move into base housing. Rising View will at the very least greet you with a smile and fix your housing problems within a short period of time (so far they fix mine within 48 hours).
I truly hope that Offutt marks Paradise Lake as a Do Not Rent---making sure that no military member EVER rents from them again.”
